Hi! For cleaning used shoes, first remove the insoles and wash them separately; you can use baking soda to deodorize and absorb moisture, and wipe the surfaces with vinegar to disinfect and clean. For purses, start by emptying and shaking them out to remove debris. We like to spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap, and use a lint roller to easily remove dust and lint.

I hope this helps! Xx – Emily

You can certainly throw items in the dryer if you know the fabric content – some thriftstore finds don’t have fabric details available, so we prefer to line dry as to not damage them! Thank you for reading! – Emily

Fabric permitting I would think using the high heat of the dryer would help kill whatever is leftover from the wash?

Steam cleaning is great for woolies. You can get an expensive steam cleaner ($30) , or if you are a major thrifter invest in a floor model. In truth, it is time consuming and a bit tedious to get the steam to every corner, but a $200 wool coat for $20- can be worth it. Steaming also deodorizes (usually) and sanitizes.

Hi Emily! We’re so sorry to hear that. Have you tried using baking soda or white vinegar to get the odors out? If so and still no success, see if a green/eco-friendly dry-cleaner might be able to help! We hope you’ll be able to enjoy those vintage pieces soon. xx – The Good Trade Team

I recently bought vintage through Poshmark and the detergent that had been used to wash the item is so strong that the item is unwearable, even after repeated soakings and washings in my own home. The smell unfortunately even spread to some of my own garments and I can’t get it out!

We hear ya! Our trick to not trying on before washing is to bring a soft tape measure with us and check if it fits that way! We recommend writing down the measurements of a garment you already own and love for reference ✨
