Hi Sarah! This is a great question, and I am happy to pass this along to our editorial team. In the meantime, I know PlushBeds can make some customizations (not sure if they do custom sizes though). Thanks for this suggestion, and hope you find the right dream mattress for you! – Emily

Not sure if it’s just the quality of the mattress and support, or cleaner air with less VOCs. Dena, I also feel that having a good air purifier and HVAC filters is important for clean air.

We shouldn’t be breathing in garbage toxins while we do so. But, a good ventilation system in your home can help escort some of those unwanted outgassing chemicals out of your home. Changing your HVAC filters monthly helps a lot, too.

Hi Lou! Avocado offers a plush top option now that would be excellent for petite sleepers, and we also like Saatva’s range of plush soft options. Of course, you can always select a plush pillowtop protector too. Hope this helps, thanks for reading! – Emily

Hi Michelle! Glad you were able to find the right mattress for your teenager. For storage sake, we’d recommend using the mattress that a sofa sleeper already comes with, and instead investing in a plush mattress topper (you can see our guide to mattress toppers here). We’ve also found that PlushBeds makes a gel mattress for sofas in twin and twin wide sizes, but you might want to double check the height your sofa sleeper can accommodate so you can still fold up the chair easily when needed! – Emily

I am able to find a great mattress for my teenager. However, for me it is a different situation. I have researched for a year to try and find a suitable organic ‘cot’ or twin size mattress to fit in a chair sleeper. I am 5’6″ 114 lbs and a side sleeper. I need a soft bed as I do not have enough weight for a firm mattress. I have been sleeping on a down feather couch for the last 4 years because I am such a light sleeper and need a different area than my bedroom where my husband sleeps, and snores, and tosses, and has different hours than me. The only alternative we can find would need to be something I can hide during the day, like a chair. A couch would be too big. Hence, the sofa (chair size) sleeper. I prefer a cot size as the footprint isn’t that wide (luckily I do not need much for my size), but a chair-and-a-half size is acceptable. The tricky part is finding a foldable, soft-enough mattress that is worthy of sleeping on daily. Most of these chairs are intended for infrequent, short durations. Any suggestions would be ever so welcomed!!!

Hi there! We love Naturepedic, and have also found them to be much more expensive than the other brands on this list. We’ll continue to keep them in mind for future coverage and updates of this guide! Thank you for reading 🙂 – Emily
