OMG, hah! I totally understand that. Systems have been so important to me, and Notion really helped me solidify them. Admittedly, I’ve been less diligent about my Notion use lately, but my brain absolutely feels it. I’ll have to check out Sab Yang! Thank you for reading, and for your recommendations, Meagan, sending you all the best!

I use the free version, and am testing the new features as they come! I think eventually I’ll upgrade, I’ve actually found the meeting notes tool to be quite helpful. Hope you find the best setup for you!

Just found this now – my name is Gail. a derivative of Abigail – meaning my father is joy. I have long believed that my humor, the ability to find something to be amused by – even in the dark times – has been my saving grace.

It was unlike anything I had heard/read before about the subject and was truly thought provoking. I have always believed that I was resilient, given the many significant losses I’ve experienced from a very young age. However, this article made me consider that perhaps I’m not as resilient as I always thought I was. While I have certainly “struggled well” and endured, I realize that I have not done a great job of springing back into shape. I thought I had because, well, life goes on. But I am definitely hardened and also feel fractured. (I used the term “broken” to describe myself after the most recent loss.) Thank you again for sharing your experience and perspective. It gave me a lot to consider.

Comment on Are Women Who Choose To Live Alone Happier? by Anonymous User https://www.thegoodtrade.com/features/living-alone/#comment-11732 Wed, 01 Oct 2025 13:03:11 +0000 https://www.thegoodtrade.com/?p=41230#comment-11732 I love this article! I dreamed of a solo life my entire childhood (small house, no privacy, etc etc). I did end up meeting a partner (now husband) who also respects and needs alone time so we are a good match. We both have independent hobbies and activities and now have a house which allows us our own spaces. Miraculously he also travels for work, which allows me some true solitude. I have experienced depression since menopause and during those times I have experienced feelings of loneliness, but they passed and I continue to relish my independence and freedom to live the life I imagined as a kid (childfree by choice but have always had dogs to dote on!). I encourage young people to embrace perhaps perceived “untraditional” lives for themselves if desired. I was born with a rebellious streak that has helped keep the outside voices to a minimum for me. Strangely (or perhaps not-to-much?), the biggest blowback and negativity I have experienced was from family members who chose a more conventional path and are miserable (and maybe envious/jealous of my lifestyle). I am just thankful I trusted myself to follow my intuition and live life on my own terms. I was also a young woman during a time when we still had reproductive rights (and I worked in this field for many years to try to help protect these rights). It is not lost on me that I had that choice and young women in this time period may not. Finding friends with a similar lifestyle has been really challenging going for me. I wish I met more people with similar lifestyles to hang out together and possibly travel together.
